Either you screwed up or your download was corrupt...
No additional big downloads (except if you already bought the Cataclysm expansion), you sure it is not just checking the 7.2gb?
 
Pretty sure it is 7.2GB in total. I copied most of the patches from someone else and then it downloaded 1.6GB extra through the new downloader.

The extra Cataclysm content is only 700 MB so that is not too bad.
 
Maybe it is more to do with that I am using the trial version. Wanting to test out WOW and see if it is something that I will like before buying it. Current WOW folder size is about 16GB. Total should be about 23GB if I am not mistaken. Maybe thats where the 7.2GB comes from? Think I read that either from this thread or another.

Ran the game yesterday while streaming the data at the same time. It is painful with a 512kbps connection and landed up with pings around 1000ms. Decided to leave at let it download. I get pings of about 400-500ms playing Guild Wars so would think that WOW will also give the same when not streaming the installation files.
