Guys I need help in the biggest way, I have downloaded the patches [all of them] - when I try and run the update it gives me a " World of Warcraft could not be found. Please make sure the game is properly installed " message - this is the 2.4.3 to 3.0.1 patch - see I searched the net and tried all the solutions I could find, namely repair the WoW installation, moved the updates folder into the World of Warcraft Folder, I even moved the WoW directory to C:\Program Files etc..., I have tried using the launcher, allowing it to update or going straight to WoW logon then exiting etc.. I get an invalid torrent file error. I cannot reinstall the game because I only have the Burning Crusade CD's not the Classic CD's [Lost when I moved from one flat to the other:(] ... the only solution I see is getting a copy of someones install files - but no one has it, they freaking playing Warhammer:mad: - So if anyone has come across this issue and has a solution or has the install files all done already - I am in Montague Gardens in Cape Town. Please PM me ... Oh yes i have the US version

Very odd  The other thought that springs to mind is this: are you perhaps trying to patch the US version with the EU files? :o Just a thought...

Sparhawk, try this:

Make sure that you have two folders under your Update folder in your WoW directory.

One is for 2.4-3.0.1

The other is for 3.0.1-3.0.2

The first folder must have four files:

Update-tome1.mpq
Update-tome2.mpq
Update-tome3.mpq
updater.exe

(the exact file name may differ but you get the idea)

The second folder must have the following:

patch-part1.mpq
patch-part2.mpq
patch-final.mpq
updater.exe

If you have all the files mentioned above, you first run the 2.4-3.0.1 updater and afterwards the 3.0.1-3.0.2 updater.

If you don't have all the required files you can grab them at the following site:

Good luck!

My bad, see you already had the link etc. Your problem seems a bit more severe.

I would help out, but I have the EU version unfortunately :<

Thanks Cloud already tried that.. Can one not use the EU version and then just edit the realmlist.wtf file to point to US?

Eu version + Eu patches + realmlist. You're stuck with needing the US install files or redownloading EU patches :)

I am a sad panda :-(, thanks for the help guys will make another plan somewhere ... somehow ... [Note to self perhaps now is the time to kick this addiction]

when i moved to the UK, i left my CD's in a packed in a crate in SA. I copied the WoW dir onto a portable drive. Got to UK and I couldnt get the damn thing to work, so i just bought the whole set. Classic and TBC. Yeah it cost, but it solved my problems.

Get the disks. I realise you got problems over there downloading big patches, but thats not a blizzard issue. You are always going to have those problems regardless of which game, because whatever game you get, there will be patches and they will get bigger.

Btw, did Kara.(warrior prot FTW, but thats another story) with some South Africans guildmates last night. None of our South African guildies had problems. They where all online when I logged.

I find you get more problems arise when you tried to take shortcuts and do this little adjustment here, and another little fix there.

Get the disks. Install the game, load patches. Go have a beer. Dont rush it. Its worth the effort.

PS I got me mohican for my night elf warrior. What else ??? :D

Just an update - I recieved complete EU install files patched to 3.0.2 - The realmlist.wtf folder has moved to C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Data\enGB - I changed the Logon to US and left the rest to EU and tada it works - now for my haircut!!!
