Patches ???

I am confused. Every time I try to patch a game (Crysis & GTR2), the file does not reflect the new version number. And in the case of GTR 2 the game does not even want to launch after installing the patch.

What could possibly be causing this, as I figure it has something to do with Windows XP Home as it has now done this on two games

Any error messages during the patch or with the game that doesn't launch? If you browse to the main executable has the date/version no. changed on it a after a install.

Not sure if its a XP problem - there's file protection but XP only protects the OS files.

Anything odd in the event log? What SP are you on?

There are no error messages during the install of the patches on either games.

I'm on service pack 2.

GTR2 Patch I downloaded of games.saix.net
Crysis patch 1.2 I got off a nag DVD & the patch 1.2.1 off games.saix.net
