"Durban - Two police officers from the uMbilo police station were robbed and hijacked off their state vehicle while on patrol on Monday morning.

Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane, KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, said the officers were patrolling along Bulwer Road and Helen Joseph Street in the Umbilo area when they were approached by two men who pretended to be in need of assistance.

Zwane said as the police van stopped the men pointed guns at them.

"They were pointed at gunpoint and the suspect disarmed both members of their state firearms. They pulled the members from the vehicle and drove away. The police vehicle was later found abandoned at Clearance in Umbilo area," Zwane said.

In our area every SAPS Vehicle has tracking and monitoring.

Just shows how terrified criminals are of law enforcement in SA.

They're heavily armed and police have no idea how many are surrounding them at any point. Then we have crime intelligence serving politicians instead of the police...

Gun laws are silly because when you take the guns from the people only criminals will have guns. Oh wait, nevermind.

criminals need private security in SA, so expalin to me why do we even pay taxes?

I mean the minute the actual police need guards to protect them, what use are they?

might as well pay ADT to be the police, and do away with the police altogether.

the future might just be real with "corporations"that rule everything, similar to the plot of continiumm

You fail to understand the very definition of calling them the SA police service, they are there to serve the public and they don't pull their guns and aim the minute a member of the public approaches them. This whole thing is based on the understanding that citizens should have respect for the rule of law and respect for our officers, that is how things work in most countries, the police are not to blame here, it is the people of SA who are the problem.

The CPFs and security companies like ADT, Chubb etc., have no power at all if one
reads the following instruction that we received at our CPF sector.

Instruction on Policing:

Station Commanders please inform all your CPF members/ security entities
that under no circumstances will they be allowed to do any stop and search
in any public space nor be within any crime scenes. Any CPF member/security
entities found engaging in such must be arrested and charged for Impersonating SAPS.

LtGen De Lange just called me about this behaviour in the cluster right now.

COCC you are to inform every sector vehicle about this and ensure immediate compliance.

Major General Subbiah

Impersonating SAPS, how so Major General? The NP's post office mentality is still strong in SA.

CPFs and security companies should not be doing that in the first place.

Stop and search is a given but what happens if the security company arrives before the police at a crime scene, and they almost always arrive first.
