Got some fines to pay.
Tried to use payfine.co.za - site down, it's dead, no redirect, nothing.
Seems they've moved on to paycity.co.za.

So I register for paycity and now they want me to upload:
  • Scan of South African ID/Passport
  • Scan of the face of my credit card
WTF?

Gurus:
Is this safe?
Is paycity PCI compliant? see www.pcicomplianceguide.org
What's your experience with PayCity?

You can also use EasyPay - http://www.easypay.co.za/

There have been some rumbles regarding EasyPay, but I have used them for years to pay utilities etc - not fines - without hassles.

I called EasyPay, seems they only process fines that have an EasyPay ID.
Mine are from JMPD and don't have an EasyPay ID :(

I am not a fan of the paycity site, however i have used it.

When i registered i did not have to supply a copy of ID and of the credit card. I would be keen on signing up now if thats what they want.

You can pay traffic fines from Internet banking - depending on who you bank with. FNB offers this service, i believe standardbank does too.

Tried using paycity and easypay last night. Paycity wouldn't load at all. :erm:

EasyPay took a couple of tries. Got the run around when trying to buy electricty, making me enter the same registration details twice. Finally when getting to the final payment screen, it timed out on the gateway to FNB's 3d verification thing. I gave up

It seems to be related to using a free mail service like hushmail, gmail, hotmail, etc.
In order for them to store credit card info, they need to comply with PCI
see pcisecuritystandards.org
which is quite a complex (costly) security requirement from Visa/MC/etc.

Does anyone know if they comply?

O/T: you can use FNB's internet banking to buy electricity.

I used paycity to pay my fines. The site is a bit slow at times, but it works fine.
Paid my fines, and got proof of payment/receipt though email.

@Xmailer9, Did you have to upload a:
  • Scan of South African ID/Passport
  • Scan of the face of your credit card

I'm just a bit concerned that PayCity security is not PCI compliant.

nah. Did not have to do any of that. I just needed to add my ID number to my profile, as that's how everything is linked.
