Have any of you been using PayFast as a payment gateway for a while?

Any feedback?

And they don't seem to allow Paypal payments.

Also, what about foreign currency payments (e.g EUR) for overseas clients?

Yes
They're excellent
No they don't
What about them? They would pay in Rands. Just like you pay in Dollars when you buy from Amazon

What I mean is can one show a different currency on the ecommerce site (instead of listing products in ZAR),
and then when they go to the checkout page, it lists their currency eg EUR and not ZAR.

This is possible with other gateways...

Not that I'm aware of. They buy in Rands (And their credit card converts it to their local currency)

What other gateways do this? Like Google Wallet?

You can display the amount in any currency you want I'm sure, with some calcs. I don't even know if you can pay with a US or UK credit card on Payfast. Wondering now if they can handle that.

You can pay with a US/UK/Whatever you want credit card. The user is charged in Rands and it is converted to their currency by the their credit card company

As far as I know, merchants in South African have to process payments in ZAR by law. I use PayFast for my website, but only for purchases in ZAR. I've got the site set up to use PayPal when processing payments in other currencies. Then I use FNB to withdraw from PayPal.

PayFast definitely seems to be the favourite among SA e-commerce stores. I guess my only gripe with them is that they redirect the user for payment instead of having some sort of embedded widget for your site. (I'm running Woocommerce on my online store).

For that reason I'm using Peach Payments. They are much more expensive than PayFast(300 monthly, plus you need a merchant account) but they give you en embdded widget and card saving facilities. If you care about conversions and abandoned cart statistics - you could give Peach Payments a try.

I'll have a look tomorrow, I am pretty sure I've setup PayFast with PayPal in the past.
Otherwise it's the one that covers most of the bases I needed.
