PayFast - what's your experience?

They work very well until a customer commits fraud - then you will have to pay them back for it. Read section 12.3 here - their user agreement: https://www.payfast.co.za/end-user-agreement/

We have used them for many years - last year in November a customer purchased a cellphone for 12k on our website. Today they notify me that i must pay the amount back to Payfast as it was fraudulent. So i lose 12k - not very cool - rather stay away. They supposed to make sure that no fraud happens but they obviously cannot guarantee that and then you will have to take the bill.

@Opinion z, do you mean they get duped by a fraudulent payment, pay over the funds to you, then the fraudulent payment bounces or is not honoured, and then they make it your problem and claim the money back from you? Sheez, that's a bit rough...

You will always be liable as the merchant for fraud.
There is only so much the system can pick up. Most fraud cases are legit orders. Once the goods are received they either dispute the transaction or log a fraud transaction.

Payfast is only the middle man. Unsure why they should carry the risk.

Selling tech online is risky. While I don't sell tech, I sell services and out fraud rate is around 5% only. We don't use payfast though.
