Paying Telkom account by EFT

I always pay our Telkom bill at Pick 'n Pay, but it is due today so I want to do so by EFT. On the front of the statement, below our account number, is an 18 digit EFT reference number. When I try to create a new beneficiary with that number as the beneficiary reference, Standard Bank tells me to enter a valid ref number. Does anyone know what the EFT reference should be?

Mine Is a 19 digit number, are you sure you not missing a digit?, also using STD bank and I had no issues when adding Telkom as a beneficiary.
