Hi all!

Want to make a Payment through PayPal from my Standard Bank account. Has anyone had any difficulties with this? What kind of fees does Standard Bank charge (aside from PayPal's whopping 5%)? I've been told that PayPal payments are not capped by my daily limit, does this hold true?

Thanks!

Are you just paying someone else? If you're paying using your card, then there's no additional fees, other than the currency conversion fee (normally around 2% above the current exchange rate). The seller receiving the money will be charged a fee to receive the payment, but that would be built into their business. Your limits would basically be whatever your card limits are.

I'm not sure where you get 5% from, unless the seller is making your pay for their fees? Or you trying to use FNB's Paypal service to top up your account, which does have lots of fees attached.

Hi
I'm trying to link my Standard Bank debit card to Paypal and it says "incomplete number or incorrect number"
what now? It is, of course, the correct card number.
Any help would be great, thanks

Is it a crappy Maestro card or a proper Debit Card? If it's Maestro you can't.

If it's a proper debit card (that is exactly like a credit card) with a raised 16 digit number then it should be working. If it's the "flat" printed card type it won't work in most places outside SA.

Normal Standard Bank 16 digit debit card
Raised number, yes
What do you suggest?
Tried Paypal and Entropay. Same problem.

Talk to your bank I guess.

Do you have problems using it with other online payment systems? Maybe it needs to be "activated" by the bank first.

Phoned Standard Bank. Would be great if their staff actually knew what they were talking about!
Will have to go into the bank to talk to them! Frustrating
