Hi,

So I order a lot of items from banggood and other sites
I decided to order from a new company and found out the item isn't exactly as describe.

Their response was basically , we lied.

They didn't apologize or anything but said send the item back for a refund.
Any idea how paypal see this?

I doubt they will refund me my shipping back fees and the import taxes I paid already.

Also they lied once....how do I know they actually going to refund me?

File a dispute on PayPal and provide screenshots of the email/conversation where they lied.
Provide pictures of the parcel.

Pro-tip: Create a video of opening the parcel the first time to avoid this. I do this if it is a high value item or I have any doubt about the seller.

In my experience if you have been using PayPal for a while, they'll instantly side with you (ie. I only ever file a dispute when it is a legit concern and not for every little thing).
This is a VERY common scam where the return shipping is so much that they know you would never ship it back.
It used to be that the payment gateway would require you to ship it back, but in my experience both AliExpress and PayPal no longer do that because of how well known the scam is now.
At least for myself, I've always gotten an instant refund and never been asked about return shipping unless the seller was willing to pay in full for return shipping (which they weren't).

Also you have to appear to be reasonable, so tell them you are happy to return the item if they pay the full return shipping before filing the dispute.
EDIT: You have to used tracked courier shipping, else they can claim they never received the returned item! So no postal return shipping!

ie.
I ordered X:
<picture>

Got Y: (Picture)
<picture>

I contacted the seller and they responded with Z: (where they admit they lied)
<picture>

I offered to return the item if they pay for shipping, and point out you've already incurred tax and so on costs above and beyond.
<picture of them refusing to pay for return shipping>

Keep it professional, don't write sentences about how you feel this is unfair.
They don't care how you feel or your personal narrative, focus on the evidence, keep it simple with the facts.
Remember the people reading this go through these all day long, if you keep to the facts you make it easy for them to side with you.
You are one of thousands of people, they aren't going to get emotionally invested in this, so don't waste your emotional energy on this

Thanks....I am definitely not new to paypal disputes, but it's usually a parcel I never received.
I didn't take a video, it was one of those things that took me a few days to figure out its not there (I first tried to troubleshoot the hardware).

The big question for me was "what do I claim for", so in theory if I want the item to have the same features they described i'll have to replace a component with one that cost 70$ so that was my claim.

PayPal are very obliging. They sort it out in under 2 weeks

Btw: If you sell on PayPal, no need for an FNB account. That is one useless appendage gone

I guess its not really a secret....I got a drone.
It was suppose to have built in Bluetooth....spent a good few hours trying to figure out how to enable it.....

Still saying:
"The flight controller has built-in Bluetooth and wireless connection with mobile phones, making parameter adjustment convenient and fast."

.....

PayPal asked me to file a police report.
That's a new one....

Then go to the police station and open a case of fraud against the company. Get your case number and provide it to Paypal as per their request.

Yes, that's the plan:)

Filing a false police report means perjury. They want to make sure you are being honest.
Who said anything about false police report? I'll go to the police in the next few days

Not saying you are lying. Paypal is doing it to help weed out some scammers. Your insurance company also wants a case number when there is a break in or a car crash. I wasn't accusing you, just explaining PayPal's methodology.

It does make sense, It's just that I have been dealing with paypal for many years , I don't log returns very often but still never came across a request to file a police report.

I've had two refund issues with PayPal before but in both cases the company never shipped the product. In a case last year, the whole site I shopped on was a scam or some sort of money laundering operation and the item was never shipped out, and after a back and forth with PayPal, paypal refunded the money.

I've never had a product "as not described" dispute recently. A decade+ ago on ebay I've had that once or twice but I wrote it off, these were not expensive items. Back then PayPal was no longer working in SA but I still had my SA PayPal account. I had 99.5% success with Ebay.

Douglasdale police station refused to help me, "civil matter" they told me....
But I went to Ranburg police station and was treated much better there....funny enough they said they have to send the case back to Douglasdale because that the area the fraud took place.
A bit off topic but SURELY the police must take my statement and upon investigation decide if it's a police matter or not?

So the police called to say it's not a fraud because they offered me to return the product.
So based on that I can rob a bank and if I get caught I'll just offer to give the money back and then they won't open a case against me.....

I don't understand why the police can't open the case investigate properly and decide.

I honestly thought a person can easily open a case about anything and if it's stupid the case will be closed after a simple investigation.
