I recently opened an account with PayPal, as I was planning to buy of eBay.

It seems that due to Fica, they eventually put me on a limited account with a few outstanding requirements. ("Proof of Residence" etc). I met all these requirements and waited two days but my account was still limited

After numerous e-mails , always answered by some smart auto answering e-mail, I was ready to ditch PayPal and just use my Credit Card. BUT after some beer and mampoer (genuine) it occurred to me, that I can just call them....

So I thought, I wonder how iBurst would handle this call.... It was a real smooth call to the US and very very cheap!!! 11 minutes for R1.80. I got so nervous while I was told to hold, as my brain was still brainwashed by Telkom's rippoff rates, kept on thinking I will have to sell my car to fund this call, but alas, that was not the case.

So, I got my account sorted, payed for my eBay items and now I am a happy chappy!!

:)

Wow, so these skype calls really are that good huh?

What's really funny though, is that in my case, even if i use skyp to call the US, and avoid the rape that is Telkom, i STILL get raped because of the bandwidth the call will use.

Would you care to explain this whole process (using skype to call) please?

The limited account is unlikely to have anything to do with FICA. But yeah Skype is pretty good and the rates are out of this world.

Nothing to do with FICA IIRC. It's a PayPal precaution for international accounts such as in SA, who can ONLY register with a credit card and not a bank account. They charge a small amount and on your monthly statement there is some code they give. You enter that online at PayPal to de-activate the restrictions.

The bandwidth for a call even to US, not that it changes anything, is very little. Completley negligable infact, compared to what you pay Telkom.

It much use something like 50-80kb/s and then about the same for upload. And you call for about 20 mins, its only a few mega, the price is probably in cents.
