PC Blower

Where can I get one? Cape Town area.

I got loads of PCs that need to be cleaned.
Builderswarehouse if there are any in Capetown. Look where they keep the drills & stuff.

There are a few makes. Have had a ryobi for a few years & it's still going strong.

If you're going to be doing it on a regular basis your best idea by far is to get an aircompressor. We had an electric 'blower' for years which made a lot of noise and got most of the dust out, but now we have an aircompressor (air pressure adjustable up to 8bar) and it does an awesome job. Highly recommended.

Air compressor MUST have a watertrap at the very least unless you want to shower the computers.

Air blower still the safest.

blowers start from around R3?? The last i looked.

Yeah they are noisy but you won't use them 8hours a day uninterrupted & most compressors are noisy too.

Careful of compressed air cans. Some contain a bit of moisture.

I was under the impression that you should not be blowing out you pc? I thought you should rather be vacuuming.

Vacuuming is the same as blowing, except that the vacuum cleaner is like 100x less powerful.

So if you're using a blower/air compressor, make sure that the fans don't spin, otherwise you will either damage the bearings of the fans or damage the motherboard/PSU that the fans are connected to.

Edit/Update:
@Venomous, you posted like exactly the same as I did :D

SNAP!
:D

If you have accesses to dry compressed air the best is to get a professional grade blowgun kit. the progressive type, the harder you squeeze the more air comes out. Great for adjusting the pressure when working on the delicate areas too.

Beware, the cheapies found in your typical engineering shop are the on/off type, you don't want one of those.

Specifically, this one is good. Not expensive either.

hey guys

iam wanting to do the same thing , i been looking around online so far this 12V Mini Air Compressor - Standard seems reasonable not sure on the price tho and thing is iam not sure if it can be used to clean the 2 ati 4870's i got especially the damn fans that ati use in-terms of the nozzle that is on the compressor

iam so tired of using freaking brushes and vacuum ... sigh

i cannot follow links from my cell...

Have you looked at a mini blower (looks like a mini version of those leaf blowers) can get those for a few hundred rand from builders.

If you have the money to invest in a compressor then sure - get a reasonably strong one though...

Than thing is useless. It is used for inflating tyres. It does not have enough pressure, I can blow harder than that! (Looks nervously over shoulder for oc & clan)
I wanted to say that

Agreed, don't waste your money, it's a POS, so there.

A proper compressor is the way to go, but you need to justify it with more work than just cleaning out your PC every 3 months.

hey ppl's

thanks you ever so much for the replies

ok then, ive looked at compressed can of air but good grief they are pricey to just throw away

so basically what am i looking for i mean in terms of strength and all that stuff , i mean must have features or whatever for a compressor where its main purpose of buying would be to clean a pc

iam sure i can also find other use's for it aswell

edit:

what about this thing http://www.makro.co.za/p/16085/hobbycraft-1-5kw-24l-air-compressor/

The one you mentioned from Makro is what you want to get. Note that for an extra hundred bucks or so you can get a 100 or 120 litre one. But then if it's for cleaning small components then it would be fine. Rather go for a bigger one if you have the space though, as the one you listed, the 24l one in the link will decompress quickly when used and will have to switch on open to top up, annoying. We have a 120l in our workshop for cleaning out machines and a full tank of air lasts us almost the whole week. It's a good investment.
