Pc Boots up, shortly after goes into power save mode.

So I've got a PC here today and for some odd reason when it boots up it goes into power save mode, anyone had this problem before?

The internet is full of threads about this but I am yet to find a working fix.

The Pc is running on Windows 7, and the monitor it uses is a LG branded one.

I will post more information as I get it.

Do you mean the screen goes off?

Boot into safe mode and uninstalled the graphics drivers (then reinstall with newest), thats my guess.

Desktop resolution / refresh rate set to high for the monitor?
Boot into VGA mode (Pressing F8 before windows screen)

Yeah the screen goes off.

Yeah thanks I have done that going to see what comes of it.

Not that I know of, because I connected the Pc to my screen and it worked.

Thanks will give that a try if I still have a problem.

It doesn't show anything at all.

Ok gents I still have the same problem, now what?

Thinking of just formatting and reinstalling the Pc.

Keep tapping that F8 key after your BIOS screen disappears

Are you connecting the monitor to the PC's correct graphics port? Maybe it has a dedicated card and you have it hooked up to the onboard graphics?

For future reference, sometimes the monitor works during POST, but when Windows starts, due to conflicting VGA Card / Intel HD 3000 drivers it tries to send the display through the motherboard's onboard graphics port. Hence the screen goes blank until you swap the monitor cable from the VGA card to the motherboard.

This conflicting driver problem is not uncommon with the i-series CPUs. The solution for me was to use safe mode to uninstall the intel HD3000 drivers, or to disable them in the device manager.
