With the new Ivybridge (if the name is correct) coming out I started to wonder why my pc build options are...
I have R14000 to spend on it, I have a screen, keyboard and mouse and that's if anyone can come up with some nice builds I'll appreciate it :D

R14k.... can have lots of fun with that! I assume this is for a gaming rig?

So CPU will prob end up around R2500. Look for the second from the top CPU, for best value (eg i5 2500k is better for gamers than i7 2600k)
Mobo around R1500-2500
RAM R1000 for 8GB
Case is up to you, CM690ii is my default. Best mid range case imo. Thats R1000
PSU, Corsair TX650 is R600? Somewhere around there
HDD, lets leave that for last, prices are still a bit wonky
SSD, 120GB if budget allows, R2500
GPU HD7970 :D Although since you are waiting until Ivy is out, the HD7950 will be out by then, which should be a good deal cheaper. Lets assume R5000

So thats R14k more or less, and you just need a normal HDD still

edit: I hope your screem is 1920x1080 at least else the GPU is a waste

Which one am I thinking of then? CX? HX? Something X, and its closer to R600 :p That one

Id put more cash aside for the PSU - unless prices will half in the next 6 months? Highly unlikely..
Its R1100 at WootWare, and their prices are normally pretty decent.

GPU wise who knows what Nvidia might bring? If you are only going to buy your rig when Ivy bridge comes out then I suggest waiting a good while before settling in on a GPU.

Otherwise Archer has the rest sorted :)

So with all that info when this year will be the best time to buy the rig then?

GPU wise Nvidia might launch In April. And I'd wager the 7950 will wipe the floor of the Nvidia parts from a value perspective

When you can afford it, or need to. There is never a best time, as better stuff is always around the corner, or some good deal, etc etc

I believe archer mentioned a screen with 1920x1080 resolution would be optimal for his GPU , is the same with that GPU as well? if so dammit I need a new screen as well >_<

If your screen is a lower res, the 6770 will probably serve you better (and cheaper of course). But I'd seriously consider upgrading to an HD screen at least. Drop the SSD from my build and replace it with a proper monitor I say

What would be a decent HD screen to go for in the price range of about.. R3000?

Samsung LA32D550 32" LCD TV at R3.2 - R3.5k. :) Awesome PC monitor. If you have around 1m viewing distance.

Otherwise I'd get a 23" IPS LCD screen. Both of these are IPS and around R2.8 - R3k respectively.

LG iPS235V-bn 23" Led display with iPS technology ( true 178° wide viweing angle + real color ) , 59mm thickness , Full HD 1920x1080 (WUGA+) , support dual taskbar + dual web + 1 click seclection for dual monitor mode ; brightness- 250cd/m2 ; mega contrast ratio- 5000000:1 , response time- 5ms - d-sub+Dvi+HDMi+headphone out - 100x100mm vesa wall-mountable

LG iPS236V-pn 23" Led display with UH-iPS technology ( Ultra Horizontal-iPS with 18% higher aperture ratio , true 178° wide viweing angle + real color ) , 23mm ultra slim , glossy black , Full HD 1920x1080 (WUGA+) ; brightness- 250cd/m2 ; mega contrast ratio- 5000000:1 , response time- 6ms - d-sub+Dvi+HDMi+headphone out - 75x75mm vesa wall-mountable

The Samsung TV I mentioned is PVA LCD.

+1 mentioning a LCD tv, been gaming on one for 2 years now I've never looked back. Takes getting use to but depending on your setup it can be epic. I have mine on desk right infornt of my bed so when I'm not gaming, series becomes epic. With the right resolution programming can be just as awesome as you can fit sooooooooo much onto that size display.

If it isn't for you, go IPS, that's just as epic!

Erm, that sounds like BS to me. you can only really operate a LCD at it's native resolution which is probably 1920x1080 in this case, the physical screen size is irrelevant, a 30" Dell at 2560x1600 monitor will display a schit load more information than a 32" HD TV LCD. Two 24" LCDs would be even better. I'm sure it's nice for gaming but don't go over selling it.

It's flippin awesome dude, i got a 46" sammy and it is insane. Why would you want two monitors over a big monitor? For gaming this sammy is amazing, corel and photoshop run well.

I cannot believe how epic a 46" inch is and the 32" size looks just as crazy. There is nothing to over sell. It is pure magic.
