You don't get it. There is more real estate on a higher res or dual monitors than a single big tv. The only thing the big tv does is make things bigger, it does NOT give you more desktop real estate as 1920x1080 is still 1920x1080 whether you use a 23" monitor or a 108" LCD TV.

All "pro games" I know of run on single monitor, not dual.
Not sure why the resolution is important, or why people would debate against real estate? 1080p is 1080p no matter the size, I think most geeks here know this.
Also don't forget that 2 x 24" LCDs will cost around R5.5 - R6k. One could then get 2 x 32" for R6.5 - R7k.
Not quite, I've managed to get more on my tv with higher resolutions... On my hd ready tv (720p) my GPU (9800gt) allows me to go up to 1080p which means more is displayed as it now renders in HD but its being showed on a lower resolution display ie everything takes up less space.

Better is too buy a projector, gaming is awesome on a 3m x 1.5m screen
. 1080p 46" is better though. A 1080p projector would be mind blowing although i am sure you would still prefer 2 24"ersPada

You should really see how BF3 looks on ultra on 2560x1600. It just looks so much better than 1920x1080 on a 50" LCD TV.
You see more detail and is just so much more awesome.
With my 30" Dell IPS panel that runs at 2560x1600, I can view longer lines of code than I would have on 2x 23" (1920x1080) screens that are tilted 90'! I would actually prefer a single screen, but unfortunately it remains much cheaper to buy 2x 23" 1920x1080 screens over my single 30" IPS
I'll take a high resolution, small screen any day over a low resolution, big screen.
I'd rather work on a 15.4" laptop with a 1920x1200 resolution than a 30" LCD TV with only a 1920x1080 resolution!

Without a doubt dude, you cannot go wrong with a big screen. Should be some good deals now as well. Xmas is over and they will clear stock.
We're in the same boat but I suspect our needs/usage differs from the average gamer.
