Hey guys,

My friend came back from a 10 day trip yesterday, turned his pc on and everything was reaaaally slow. So he kept rebooting it etc and then it booted with the message "error loading OS."

So I figured either his Windows or his HDD is pwned. So we plugged his HDD into another computer and booted win on a separate drive. In windows we could access his D: but not his C: (its a partitioned drive).

Then while I was out my other friend did what he calls a "Boot N Nuke" - I really don't know what that is, he says its some low level formatting program that runs on bootup. Neways, I don't rly know wat happened, but now the PC freezes at the very first screen (the one that says "Biostar") and I can't even get into the BIOS nemore, let alone boot off a windows disk.

So now I come to the knowledgeable people at mybb - suggestions guys? :)

My friend's PC also used to get stuck at that "Biostar" splash logo...
He was freaking out.. but it turned out that a flash drive was plugged in....
He unplugged it, and it worked as normal.

Maybe the hard-drive is not being recognized properly? can it boot past that splash screen if you disconnect the HDD?

-unplug all peripherals including dvd roms and drives. Can you get into the bios now?
-reset the bios with jumper on the motherboard and try again. now?
-swap ram. still not?
-try a different keyboard.
Still not,
-try a different cpu.
still not? replace board.

Well, when my pc did that (froze at BIOS screen ect) it turned out to be the mobo. (can't remember if it was the south- or northbridge though)
Good luck!

tnx for all the help so far!

ok unplugged the dvd and now it gives the typical "boot disk failure" msg, gets past the 1st screen now.

will try boot off a windows disc and take it from there
