Hi Guys

I am looking to buy a large amount of PC components in the next few months to build up to 20 machines.

Which is the cheapest and best PC component wholesaler out there?

I know of Rectron and Esquire as a start and a few others but I have to apply for as a dealer to get access to their price list. I am OK with going through the whole thing but I want to be sure that their prices are the best. As far as the online stores go, rebeltech.co.za seems to be the cheapest for components to the public.

Hopefully someone can help me.

20 machines?

Most wholesalers won't deal with you for that volume, you're still an end user at that volume.

All the wholesalers are better on some prices than others.

Are the 20 machines for a business environment? If so, why not look at decent business class stuff like HP/Lenovo/Dell? At least you can get decent NBD support included in the price.

+1 In such a scenario I would just get something from Dell with next day 3yr onsite support. Well worth it.

You can try sybaritic.co.za, landmarkpc.co.za, wootware.co.za, even takealot.com

Agreed..

I've done that at 2 companies that I've worked for..... the second I could throw out the cobbled together machines I did and I brought in standardised Dell workstations with 3yr NDB support... both companies have continued that practice after I left because its actually considerably more cost effective in the long run.

Thanks for all the replies!

@ ToxicBunny As for getting from Dell, I own a Dell laptop and the "Next day" option is fantastic. Unfortunately I am going to have to custom build these machines and I don't think that Dell has the prebuilt specs that I'm after, for a decent price.

@adam_g Thanks for the links. I compared the sites to rebeltech (cheapest retailer so far) and wootware seems to be alot cheaper. Used Intel Core i7-4770k 3.5GHz LGA1150 as a benchmark on price and it is about R300 cheaper then even Landmark. Much appreciated.

@rubber_otter I got your message and sent you a reply. Will be in touch. Thanks

So from what I can gather, the wholesalers are not an option. Can I not even become a stand alone "dealer"? I am trying to bypass the retail markup if I can. Also I will be buying more hardware as I go.

Why don't you contact the Esquire representative on the forum to get yourself registered?
From what the other users said it is quick.

Are these machines for a business environment?

If they are, then contact Dell or HP or Lenovo directly, they will more than likely be able to arrange something to suit your needs...

Trust me on this, skimping on the machine for a business context will only come back to bite you in the ass later, and the cost will be MUCH more than you saved on building the machines yourself.

As for becoming a wholesaler yourself, Rectron will only deal with companies who are registered with CIPC, and that the business (in its founding statement) is an IT business or a computer reseller.

I would assume most of them follow similar lines.

What are the required specs and ballpark budget for the 20 PCs?
