PC connection to LG RH1999H using fireware

I am trying to move data from my PC to my LG HDD. The pc and lg both have IEEE1394 slots so I banged in a cable and up popped an active network connection. Pretty cool, except now I can't get to the drive. Does anybody know how I can get the I.P. address of the LG then I can telnet or I.E to the drive and move stuff over. RTFM did not work as there is no mention of PC connectivity or I.P addresses in the manual.

You know you can crack this baby open electronically. Somebody I know did this to remove some restrictions...

That only makes the player/recorder region free - I have looked far and wide to find a macrovision disable code but to no avail.. probably the firewire port has the same restrictions

Yup, it's all about moving 100gig of stuff from my PC to the HDD. I don't even wan't to think how long that would take via AV with realtime dubbing or DVD transfer.
