Where can I get a damage report for a PC fried by a power surge?

So Eskom's dirty electricity has buggered my pc  I thought maybe it was just the PSU, tried a new one but no luck. It seems like the entire PC is dead  Fortunately the hard drive is still working though. It's a custom gaming PC I built a few years ago.

My insurance company says they needs a damage report and replacement quote from a computer company in order to pay me out. So I tried incredible connection but they say they can't help.

Can anyone help with where I can get one?

Matrix probably could, else just about any PC place. Where are you based?

Matrix warehouse do damage reports, My guess is the CPU, RAM and GPU are still good.

I took my PC to Matrix once, but they refused to state it was a power surge as you 'can't prove it'. I took it to a local PC Shop who immediately when they saw the components said it was a power surge (happened during the time when the government played with the Eskom switches). So get a local PC shop to do it. Then again, Santam has never given me hassle when claiming. Make sure your PC is connected to a good UPS otherwise insurance might also reject the claim.

I went down to my local pc shop in Midrand, Computersonly and they did the report for a small fee. Now I'll wait and see if insurance will pay out the full amount.

I lost a very expensive 20 channel DAC like this and haven't gone a day without UPS except for my laptop obviously.

bit of a derail, but has anybody ever managed to claim back when their PC was plugged in to one of those Africa energy power surge adapters?

and it popped the PSU or something similar?

difficult to claim, or a similar sort of run around as claiming from insurance?

Damn... From here it looks like the GPU is fried. Definitely needs replacing...
