PC dead one day, then alive the next.

I know you said you tried another psu and its not that but, i have a weird problem with my old pc. It does exactly what yours does and i got it to work but seems to be very picky about which psu it would work with

/apologises profusely but I couldn't resist :D

On a more helpful note (hopefully), my PC used to do this after loadshedding (I think there was too much initial power draw) and I'd have to unplug all external devices. Now I let the power be on for while first and start other things (slowly) only switching my PC on after about 5 minutes of the power being back on.

Maybe with power and/or reset switches on the front panel of the chassis is shorting. Try turning on/off and resetting directly from the motherboard.
 
I had the same problem...actually the problem is still there...since 2012

It feels like a short somewhere, or overload protection on the motherboard..sometimes resetting the bios works...sometimes taking off the front panel...or even tilting the pc a bit.
But i gave my bro that PC before the issue started, so i'm not in a hurry lol

Let me know if you find the solution, these zombie PCs are popping up everywhere
