pc death while asleep

ok , so my buddy was asleep , his pc was happily downloading until it went ...poof

no display and the fans were turning like the pc just booted up.

tested ram , ram works on other pc
tested psu, psu works on other pc
cant test gfx card yet so dont know

only thing i can think of is the mobo went to uzbekistan ?

he will get a decent psu , so the psu can be ruled out and that the new can be used for upgrade later this coming month.

does your "friends" pc work after you put it off at the wall and back on? does it have a normal boot-up? does it beep? i have that problem sometimes, i think it's got to do with my beta bios.

Knowing the boot up process would be helpful though

If you unplug the pc, wait 10 seconds, plug it in again, press the power button.

What beeps does it make?
