PC doesnt shut down properly!

Hi There

When I shut down my PC it goes through the normal routine. Throws the screen "windows is now shutting down" then the screen goes black but it doesnt actually shut down. it stays on and I left it like that for hours.

Anyone know what could be the problem?

Theres a possibility that its trying to shutdown a process but unable to do so because of a lockup. Boot into safe mode, and try to shut down again. Does that work?
