Hi All,

I have a buddy looking for a fan controller with a temp sensor, something like in the image below. Cant find similar locally, only much more complicated versions. Any recommendations on where to find or alternatives that are cost effective and small?

vast majority i saw there were like 10 times the price (I understand we will pay more given shipping, customs etc etc but imo they are overpriced) especially when most of them appear to be drop shipping, I would still pay more if it was going to take a day or 2 to receive not 2 weeks.

any chance you can help link to any of these struggling to tie up finding the ones you refer to

what do you want to control with it ,not all controllers will be suitable for all jobs

a small inverter fan (80mm fan) i want to connect the temp probe to the heat sink or near enough to it and have the fans speed dependent on the units temp

ok thats easy enough ,just look at if you can set an upper temp to turn on and a lower temp to turn off otherwise the fan may cycle continuously if the the on off cutout is to close .the ones on takealot are more expensive but are reliable .the stc 100 has been around for many years .Screenshot_20230228-080539.png

also look at a 120mm fan .they are quieter and move more air .i would also get a grid for the fan if you dont have one otherwise you tend to get ostriches stuck in the blades

ah ok this is similar to one on communicas site, i didnt initially think these would work, I guess these will probably work but will only give me an on and off functionality based on thresholds, not a fan speed based on the temp.
Is it really necessary to vary the fan speed ?

I think some cooling always would be better than having it as either on/off as it would then be less often that the fan ramps up unless the unit is working hard but I guess on/off is still better than just always on which is the case now.
