here is what i have come up with so far:
psu - 450
hard drive - 450
mb - 850
ram - 600(2gig for now)
cpu -1800(amd phenom x4 955)
gpu - 2500(ati 5850)

total{exc cpu} - 4150

can anyone better this? please remember to forget about the graphics card!

thanks:)

What power supply are you getting though? You might wanna spend an extra hundred and get a coolermaster 550watt for that 5850.

i think i will consider getting a better power supply. i am leaning towards a ati/amd setup so am not going to change processor. does anyone know where i cold get these part cheaper. i have searched for the best prices. and any recomendations on the mb? lookin for AM3 and 4 ram slots,(ram can be anything from ddr2 800)

Stay away from those 550W Coolermaster models. I've had a 100% fatality rate with them so far - fatality as in the fan becoming freaking loud within a few months of use.
