er no... Intelligence Publishing is not the same as Tide Media. ;)

Magazines do tend to lose focus sometimes (most times) and SA magazine can be allot better I think.

Some magazines however are besides entertaining supposed to educate. If I read a magazine and I don't learn anything or there's no possibility of me learning anything, I just don't bother reading.

True , too true... I stopped buying PCF when MARS left and they upped their price from like 19.95 to like 32.95 or some **** just for some gloss and glorified crap. It used to be a kickass mag and I was a loyal reader from the start, pity what they did to it.

Yea, good old Mars Mlodzinski. Off to Dubai to run some magazine if I recall correctly. Things was never the same again. Although I still buy PCF, cannot miss out on Ask Luis! ;) I dont see myself as a Hardcore Gamer so I dont buy the NAG (only buy the E3 special edition each year).

What ever happened to the Cameron's Collection of PCF? I miss that more than anything else! :confused:

Both NAG and PCF (S.A) had a huge impact on me as a teenager, it's the reason I'm studying in an IT direction at the moment, not the sole reason, but reading it helped me to make up my mind.

Main thing, which I always mention. If a magazine is above the readers, it won't succeed, and that's the sole reason I stopped buying both of them, about 2 years ago.

Young dudes, picaneens man, were told to sod off by the Editors and that Louse guy in PCF. Now, if I posed a question to a mag and I am 14-17, I don't know where on or off is on a pc, the last thing I'd like is sarcasm and idiotic responses to my questions.

That's why I love this forum, it's a good place, it's got it's lows like any other, but it helps most people out, even the creeps ;)

I agree, this guy is completely out of line regarding his responses to reader questions. :eek:

Strangely though, it's not just Louse man, I read a few stupid comments in both PCF letters and NAG letters sections, they think PC mags are like the FHM or ZOO and therefore treat the public like waste, which sucks ;) I don't even visit their forums, waste of time IMO ;)
 
Yea, with the bandwidth sucking our wallets empty, I now only buy a PCFormat if it's got some Linux distro like SuSE or the such on the cover CD.

Works out cheaper to buy the mag than to buy bandwidth. :rolleyes:

Hey, maybe we can include that in our benchmarks to use against Telkom's [-]cheap[/-] [-]predatory[/-] [-]profiteering[/-] cheap pricing? :p :D
 
only 2 PCFs I bought had SuSe 10.2 and Kubuntu 7.04 on it
 
Custom PC Mag

What e happened to the Custom PC mag? The SA version was a pretty good copy of the UK one. I was only able to find issue 1 to 8. I think that then stopped publishing...no idea why. This WAS FAR better than PC Format and SA Com.... Oh well keep looking for the UK one...

I disagree with all of you. Ask Luis is the favorite part of the PCF for me! Interesting questions with even more interesting answers that contain some hilarious humor. I just plainly like it. Although I cannot even remember when last I even opened the Letters page.
