Jeez, like.

I've pulled out an old game for my kid. Colin Macrea Rally 2.0

The whole picture/graphics is too dark. I've had this problem before with this specific game.

Now i have also sorted it out before by googling it, but unfortunatley cant find the solution this time.

OPenGL, Direct3D, dithering - all this is gobbly-gook stuff.

There is no colour settings within the actuall game - Last time i fixed it within the graphics card settings/properties area.

Anyone got any suggestions.

Thnaks.

Oh, got radeon 7200 or 7500.

In the Overlay tab - there is a brightness setting, but the overlay bit wont let me adjust anything, they greyed out.....

You're probably looking for the gamma settings, if there's no gamma options in the game, look in your graphics driver properties.

I've got gamma under 2 tabs - the first is the overlay tab, which has a slider thing for the gamma setting (but as i mentioned above, everything is greyed out) also has other sliders - brightness, contrast, saturation, hue & Gamma - anyone know how to get this tab working?

Secondly, got gamma settings under another tab, and has 3 sliders - red, green, & blue. AND FF THIS COLOUR THING IS ANNOYING.

Sorry......

i've tried varying the red/blue/green sliders, but it only changes the shades of those colours.

I kinda think my soloution is in the overlay tab, but cant friggin adjust anything in there. Anyone know what would be linked to this tab so that i can tick it or untick it, so that i can access it?

If it's greyed out, try dragging it anyway. With any luck you should gt a popup message telling you that a previous profile maybe be overwritten or something. If you agree with the message then it shouldn't be greyed out anymore.

your overlay tab will only be active if you are playing a video, if has got nothing to do with game settings. that is why it is grayed out. go play a divx file or something, or a dvd and you will find it becomes movable for that period of time.

i cant help you with colin mcrae, but i am sure not going to talk cr@p to you and pretend i can.

A few suggestions ---lame or not
Running on XP? , reinstall the game and run it Emulating 95 or 98, the game in question was designed for Win 95 /98/ME/2000, many of the older games i have work better when i run them in emulation mode.
Check out Codemasters web site, for possible patches.
Personally i have found that quite a few of my older games struggle graphics wise, with the newer cards, and as you are finding out need fine tuning.
My solution was to build a second machine running on 98se with all the bells and whistles, and to play those games on that machine.
