Interesting. I really thought the consoles would be making more money and bare in mind I am a hard core pc gamer so this really surprised me.

On a worldwide basis for 2007, it looks like the PC passed the PlayStation 2 as the leading revenue generating platform. The PC has become a platform that can satisfy the wide range of consumer game interests, from the casual to the hard-core gamer. Not surprisingly, the diverse PlayStation 2 still had a strong year even after the development focus has shifted to all the new systems. Going forward, the challenge faced by the Wii is that it is not that strong when it comes to the more complex epic games.

I reckon multiplayer games are the reason for this as you can't connect to the official servers with pirated copies.

I read another article somewhere that claims that PC gaming is dead cos of the massive profits XBox games/gaming is raking in.
This article is comparing PS2 with PC's.

But even comparing the Pc to PS2 (with a HUGE library still) it still bodes well for PC gaming.
It is certainly holding its own as a gaming platform, it would seem

Read the article carefully. It says the ps2 was in the past few years the most profitable which means more profitable than xbox 360 and ps 3 but now the pc has over taken ps2 so if it has taken over ps2 which was ahead of the other's it must now logical than also be ahead of the other's as well.

The consoles are selling more copies than the pc but the pc is making more money for the manufacturer's.

PC is doing fine it has 14 % of the market share from sales and bear in mind these sales numbers are totally skewed since they totally ignored digital distribution. With services like steam and others being the preferred way Americans and Europeans now get their pc games I believe pc gaming is actually in a much better state than many of the reports would like to claim.

An Xbox is a PC... just a very limited one in a fancy frock.
