PC hanging with a certain HUAWEI card

Hi Guys,

I have a weird problem!

I have a friend who has a dell d830 and has been given a newer looking vodafone PCMCIA card.

But everytime i plug the card in it either hangs the PC completely (it says searching for drivers and starts loading USB Root hub then it hangs, the second i eject it the laptop restarts) or on some occasions it doesnt say searching for drivers and says found new hardware and then it looks for the drivers for PCI Device!!!

Now the strange thing is that I have now tried the card on my laptop, a D620, and it works 100%

So i took a friends MTN HUAWEI card (identical to the E620 vodafone one) and thats works PERFECTLY in the D620 and D830!!!

So the vodafone E620 works in all laptops except the D830, and the mtn E620 works in all laptops although its identical hardware!

Any ideas???

Pleasure. It did take me some convincing at the vodacare shop to get a swap-out for a friend of mine with the same problem. The refurbished card they gave me did the same thing and could only achieve a GPRS signal. They eventually gave me a demo E630 unit which was just about brand new.
