aaahhh i am going bananas here!!!

let me start at the beginning?

i built this compo, then i started have stability issues. i had them for a long time since i did not have time to check them out. initially i had win xp and sometimes when booting it would say that the hal.dll was missing,. i reinstalled windows a million times. still got the problem. other issues were sometimes when windows did load, it would immediately freeze up then would have to restart and sometimes it would just sit on the motherboard logo and not boot up. then i would have to restart about 10 times before it booted up. i had this for a year. then this year, i got some time and i tried to sort it out.i thought that it was initially a ide hdd problem, but then i just had my sata in and it still gave crap. i searched around and i then found the a much newer bios. i flashed the bios and then it worked perfectly. i even put on win7. the not posting and the instability in win7 seemed to be ghosts of evils past. then i got a blue screen of death the other day, after the pc went to sleep and i shook it awake. this happened a couple of times. then today when i got home and started it, the compo did nto start, the fans spin up there is power, all the lights are on, but it does not even post. nothing. i have rebooted about 35 times and got into win 1 once then it froze after about 30 s. i have been rebooting ever since. how can it go on but not even post. there is no alarm sound or error beeb from the mobo. what can be wrong. is it possible for a dead cpu? gcard or mobo or ram?

i have

gigabyte p35 ds3l
axeram 1333
e6850 c2d
sata hdd

please help:(

Check all the cables, make sure your CPU is seated properly, reset the cmos ( or pull the battery for a few seconds) while the PC is unplugged after that you can start with testing the ram. (memtest will do this for you)

- try resetting the bios via jumper on the MB
still not posting?
- then check/swop ram
still not posting?
-unplug everything from it except for ram,CPU, keyboard, screen
still not posting?
-try another PSU
still not posting?
-swop CPU
still not posting?

MB is probably dead.

Simple thing to narrow it down pretty quickly;
Pop out the RAM and power her up - if you get that awsomely annoying beeping informing you that the world will end with no RAM, then you should look at CPU.

Just a dumb question though, have you looked at updating the MB firmware (if you are able to get into BIOS at any stage)? I had an Asus P5Q3 Deluxe/WiFi-AP at my office at some stage that kept BSOD'ing on me. Flashed her, and she went smooth as heck from then on.

Hardware has a mind of its own, I'm telling you....

ya, as i said, i updated to the latest bios which is f9, then it work for like a month, then crapped out yesterday. onther a bit of info, after the 400th reboot, it finally gave me a beeps sequence which i looked up in the manual. it says that the beeps mean that there is a power error. i have a omega psu. do you think that might be the problm. i will try the other thing u seggested today when i get back.h

ah yea :o saw the line now where you mentioned the flashing... should not read at night, it causes such errors.

It is not impossible that it is the PSU, would be kinda odd though IMO.

First bet would've been the RAM. Seen it before where it was RAM yet I got no beeping noise. All the previous suggestions/solutions are spot on...good excuse for a new pc

Could be the RAM controller or one of the RAM slots as well. If your MB doesn't care about the sequence of the RAM chips into the slots, play around with different chip/slot combinations as well. But if it is the controller or one of the slots, I'd start saving up for a new PC if I were you!

i cant do a mem test becuase it doesnt even post. but i will try taking out ram and putting ti in difference places. will also try getting different psu

not sure what the fu k is going on, but after leaving my pc off for 5 days, it bgooted up fine and has been running now for albout 40 mins. i just really cant understand thei pc. dammit.

is the pc old.... my 4 yr old pc did the same... didn't want to boot at some times... after a while i came up with a brilliant solution after getting gatvol. Took it outside and through a brick at it, although this isn't recommended if you really need it

If you can, try a different PSU. I had a problem with my old PC where I would start it up, and it would automatically reset about 10 times at various stages of bootup, before finally letting me into windows (Vista at that time). Eventually PSU just stopped working, but since I replaced it, the pc worked 100%.

Sounds like a bad PSU to me. Had this before where the PC works fine after being off for a long time, probably due to faulty caps.

Ram or PSU, old pc had freeze bug aswell. Turned out PSU was giving in, popped in a spare i had laying around & it worked like a charm. That said dont disregard previous posters suggestions to try & get to bottom of it. Like someone said PC's have a mind of its own sometimes.
