My dell screen broke, so I tried to connect an old acer 19.5 screen to the desktop. It says no signal. Tried connecting the screen to my laptop with the same cable. works fine.

I have never used the vga port of my desktop before. I always connected using a graphics card. But this monitor only has a vga port. What to do ? Am I missing something?

Check if your CPU has onboard graphics. Just because your motherboard has a VGA port doesn't mean the cpu will output graphics.

The bios also usually has an option to enable/disable onboard graphics.

It does. Checked the manual and before posting.
