Hi

Anyone know where can i get a good psu today in p.e? What shop is open?

Thx

No just asking..due 66 ppl viewed it...and they might be from p.e

Half of us PE people are still asleep.

I'd recommend Anstek but I suspect they are closed today. Your best bet would to go to an Incredible Connection (shudder) and ask them if they stock generic 450W PSU's. Otherwise you will need to wait it out until Monday when all the stores are open again

Otherwise Esquire Xpress store should be open until 13:00 today, they are in Newton Street, but I think you need an account to buy from them

As mentioned, give Anstek a try first. They're the best shop we have in PE. You could also try Computer Bits & Pieces, Penta Comp, RBS Computers and Switch Computers. Beyond that maybe you can get lucky on Gumtree or Carbonite with a secondhand PE listing.

It's sunday the PE folk are all mostly in church and the few straglers are sleeping still!!!

No I'm not from PE :D

Can confirm: church bells are ringing near me and I'm in bed.

Anstek are the go-to place. Incredible Connection not under any circumstances.

^ hence the shudder :D

They will rip OP a new one with pricing IF he can find the part he needs.

PE is pretty dead over Sundays, but if OP can wait I also just now thought of Kloppers that has quite a selection of PC components that might work

@OP, maybe try that PC shop near Vodacom at The Bridge? If they follow the shopping centre hours then they might be open

A quality PSU is a significant purchase and an important part of any system. You shouldn't be looking at anything less than gold rated or anything from a lesser known brand. Rather than waste your money getting ripped off on a crappy part on a Sunday, just order a quality unit at a good price from a store like Rebel Tech or Wootware and wait for it to arrive. You'll survive.

You shouldn't be looking at anything less than gold rated...

Gold rating is in relation to efficiency not quality or stability. You get Platinum psus that are lower quality than a gold rated psu for example. You should have no worries buying a Bronze rated Seasonic for example.

I knew that bronze/gold/platinum pertains to efficiency alone, which is why I'd also stick to the top brands like Corsair, EVGA, Seasonic, Thermaltake and Cooler Master to make sure the whole package is solid. I feel like bronze rated PSUs will deviate from their rated output more and produce more heat. If I'm wrong, then I don't know wtf the ratings are supposed to mean.

Yes there will be more heat as you move down the tiers but it gets vented out of the back.
