Hi guys :(

My PC is on the blink, well I started her up this evening and I selected the OS and it went no further than that. Also started in safe mode and that too got stuck. Here's what I did:

Switched the PC off and took cmos battery off and replaced.
Took dead ethernet card out.

The PC starts up, so it's not the psu, it's just that the damn thing doesn't start up. Nothing happens on the monitor, it's alive but dead as it were :(. The obligatory mobo beep is intermittent i.e. it's there - faint and sometimes totally absent.

Your valued thoughts or directions pretty please.

Once again thank you all in advance :)

Generally that is a psu or mobo prob or even the gpu could be shot (Nvidia been having probs recently with dead cards), had one like it last week and it was psu.

Do you see the post before the windows screen or is it just blank from the get go ?

Blank from the get go QX. But if the psu is shot would the pc still come on, I mean the mobo light is on, so is the cpu and fans?

Yes it would. just because the lights are on, doesn't mean someone is home.

If the voltages go out (like what is guaranteed to happen with most cheapie power supplies), the Motherboard will refuse to POST to protect itself.

Check the PSU out first

Check the graphics in another PC en try 1 ram chip at a time, since they are the easiest to test.

Failing all those, have the motherboard checked out by the place you bought it from.

O another thing, If the PC is the one in your signiture, those P5N32-E motherboards has the horrible Nvidia chipset on it. Of the 6 of them I sold, 5 of them came back. Those things packed up like they were lemmings heading for a cliff. if you can get it swapped for something else, swap it for a solid Intel P45 chipset board P5Q or a P5QL-E would be my pick.
