Hi there fellow MYBB users.

I've got a bit of a problem and hope you guys will be able to help me.

first of my pc specs
Graphics: MSI geforce 280GTX
Mobo: MSI P45 Platinum
CPU Q9450 2.66GHz overclocked to 3.2GHz
Memory: 4GB DDRII 800Mhz
HDD: 250GB, 320GB, 120GB, 160GB, 1500GB
External drives: 2
PSU: Corsair 650w http://www.corsair.com/products/tx/default.aspx
fans 7 x 120mm

ok now to the problem.

sometimes when I play a game any game my pc will just throw artifacts and then hangs and when I try to reboot my pc will kind of hang and I'm struggling to get it to boot. It happened after I got my 1500GB HDD

I have and idea that my 12v rail doesn't supply enough amps cause it only got 52A on it. but maybe it's my Graphics card or even the motherboard.

I sure hope it's not the PSU cause I don't have any money to get a bigger one.

From my personal past experience, artifacts are when the graphics card cannot handle its current setting.

You say it happened after you put in a 1.5tb, try take it out and see if it still does it. If it doesn't ... then its most likely a power issue and you will need to get a bigger PSU. Judging by the amount of things running on that PSU, you will need a bigger one. An overclocking 9450 and a GTX280 are heavy enough ... let alone 5 hard drives.

Conflicting replies from me and Super78 :p ... well just try the steps I gave you ... see if it works ... computers are largely trial and error I think.

thanks for the reply guys.

will try unplugging my 1.5tb drive. now I have another issue. I play games then quit and browse the net my pc hangs.

Ok ... I'm pretty convinced its PSU ... but my sureties have been proven wrong before ... could be an overheating issue. But give the hard drive thing a shot anyway

This only happens when you play games and browse at the same time right?

I think your memory usage is really high that's why it hangs

(but I think I might be wrong lol)

I've barely had that issue on hectic games with 2GB :P ... but it could happen I guess

No actually it happens whenever I browse. but looks like it was a network card driver issue cause it blue screened some time about some ndis.sys or something like that. Did some google search and find out it was driver related.

+1 here, drop one or maye even two of the smaller hard drives.

I succesfully run an OC'd Q6600 @3ghz, with the OC'd XFX GTX280 and 3 hard drives ona coolermaster 600W Silent Pro. but you are attemping to run 5 hard drives... mmm maybe a tad to many!! also how many cooling fans do you have in your case?? they all add up!

edit: I see you have solved the issue .. well done
