PC reboots when inverter kicks in

Hi all

I have a sunmagic 3000w UPS, which runs my fiber, TV, DStv, and a desktop, and few other devices.

When the power goes off, and the UPS kicks in, the PC loses power momentarily, and that causes the PC to reboot.
I run an online radio station which streams 24/7, and the PC needs to be on 24/7 if possible.

Please advise if there's a setting on the UPS which needs to be changed, or am I out of luck?
If there's no other option I will simply transfer the streaming software to another machine, it's not really a big deal.

Your start up draw may exceed what the inverter can handle at that moment. Does it also happen if just the PC is on the UPS?

It might help to give the name and model of the 3000W UPS.
 
Is it a UPS or inverter? I get an Axpert type inverter on Google, Because a UPS was designed for this and an inverter not necessarily. Have you considered trying powering a real UPS and connecting the PC through the UPS? Assuming it's a a pure sine wave.

If it's not related to the draw some inverters have UPS / Appliance mode - might want to check what it's set on.

Correct.

This Sunmagic comes up as a Solar inverter.

An inverter cannot do what UPS does...

Some do, depends on the design. You are correct in the purest sense of the word, an inverter performs a singular function (convert DC to AC), however many inverters these days are built around the concept of a UPS.
 
I would replace PSU.

I recon your caps on current one is either to small or spent. Sometimes helps to also use higher rated PSU ie: if you have a 250W PSU currently, try and get a 450-550W. They normally have better capacitors that can tolerate 1-2 second outages better if your draw isn't to high.
