Had the same problem. Nothing in Event Log and no blue screen. Swapped the PSU and everything was running fine.
You could always test it, borrow a PSU from someone else for a day (make sure there is enough Wattage and connectors for that 280X) and see if the problems disappear.

Could have been a once off error. Doesn't sound like he's getting it no more. Might have been something software related but now it's just the PSU giving up.
Those R9 280 cards are very power hungry. My R9 290 needs at least a 650w to power. I think the R9 280 is 600w. So if it's not gold rated for 600 I'm sure he'll be experiencing some issues.

When I was building i got advised that a 600w would be sufficient.Ok so I ran a full memtest which took just over 3 hours. Got no problems back, so that rules cpu and ram out? I have been experiencing weird performance issues recently like slight lag in cs go menu. Would not enough power have damaged my gpu?

Nea, would have just drained power from other sources and the PC rebooted.
Just get a bigger PSU if you can. I'm convinced that is the problem.

I can be wrong but it definitely sounds like a PSU problem. A comp tech will just tell you the same and charge you

It will be a year on 25th August. How would I go about sending my psu in? Because if it isnt faulty that will be a screw up. The psu came from takealot
Its only for bluescreens, so it wont help.
Eish Im seriously screwed now have no idea what it is going to have to get an expert
One more thing, download and install CrystalDiskInfo and send us a screenshot.
If it says your drive is fine then send the PSU in.
Ok doing that now, I have read online that someone with the same problems as me had a defective gpu, so maybe thats an issue

Yeah recently my PSU bit the dust. Same symptoms - random restarts, when stressed. Had the PSU for about 4 years, so I guess its time had come. Probably helped along by loadshedding. I now run my desktop PC (with a new PSU) off a UPS.
Howzit guys, an update.. Eventually gave Wootware a call, they said bring the pc in so after a drive all the way from the southern suburbs I took it to them and they ran tests, turns out it is the gpu... It is a Powercolor R9280x.. Now Chris said he would look into replacement but what I am wondering is if I will get given the same card or will I be lucky enough to get a R9380x by some stroke of luck?
Im guessing the suppliers still have old stock. In any case.. for 8 more gigs of g skill sniper 1866mhz ram its 850 rand so im thinking of upgrading ram and then gpu as well.
My questions are:
Should I bother with getting the ram? People say theres minimal performance increase, will it allow me to record my bf4 games?
Do any of you guys have experience with getting replacement cards when they have failed and been returned? In any case I want to upgrade to either a R9380x or an R9290, or even R9390.... HEHE.
Might be getting ahead of myself but its cool to look at options, I currently have a 600w psu so might have to upgrade that too eish
