PC shipments declined in 2018 for 7th consecutive year

Gartner reports that worldwide PC shipments totaled 259.4 million units in 2018 - a 1.3% decline from 2017.

This was the 7th consecutive yearly decline in worldwide PC shipments, although Gartner added that the decline was less steep than the previous three years.

Yes I'm still cruising along on an 8-year old PC... still haven't seen major changes, so to me the new replacement interval is about 8 years rather than the ~3 years it used to be.
Games are only demanding more GPU power but not CPU as in the past.

I'd be replacing more often if the price of a PC remained the same as it has in USD. In ZAR, the price has doubled in 8 years.

Yup only within the last two years did games start getting better with wanting more cores, Doom apparently likes that. yup we've also had a lot of our currency issues causing prices to be a lot higher then they should've been and mining taking a lot of resources.

What constitutes pc shipments? Only prebuild branded pc's?

If so those figures aren't really accurate as doesn't account for shops offering assembly of pc's.

PC parts have doubled in the US the last 8 years too.

Go price a GPU, CPU, mobo and RAM in 2011/2 in USD and compare it to now. It's not a ZA phenomenon.
