just want your opinion......

Gigabyte g31 mobo
Intel c2d 2.8 fsb 1066
OCZ 2 x 1gig ddr2 800mhz RAM
EVGA 9800gt 1024mb superclocked gpu
Gigabyte ODIN 585w psu........

is the psu strong enough and is gigabyte mobos pci-e 2.0 compatible?

As far as I remember the 8800gt only had one molex on it, I'm presuming the 9800GT would be the same. The Odin 585w come with one Molex connector (but i think it does have a converter cable as well in the box) I use the converter for the HD4890 (needs two 6pin molex plugs)

Its intel, so you can rest assured you are supporting the lamest microprocessor company in the world - who would have killed x86 long ago if they had the chance.

The power supply is fine . G31 mobo have pci-e v1.1 but the 9800gt will still work fine don't worry.

why you say intel is lame?

To cut a very long story short, they copy all their innovation from AMD and yet behind the scenes they do everything they can to crush AMD.

They have done so many things that are just wrong and restarted that I don't even want to go into it. My favorite is would probably be how they thought they would change the world with IA64. They even went so far to say that unless the competition is working on something like it at the time, they might as well close shop.

I can really go on and make a list as long as your screen if you want to but the intel fanboys would not know how to respond and resort to calling it trolling (for the lack of backbone and a suitable counter argument).

Yes you troll(And you know it Roux:)).
Roux's argument is simple:
INTEL=Evil
AMD=Gods gift to the earth.

He doesn't care about what gives you the best performance for your money or any other similar arguments.
So take his posts with a 50kg bag of salt:)

I have to agree with Zenbaas summary. That is exactly how I feel. Personally, I'll even use a VIA Eden or anything non intel no matter what the performance difference is.

But, if you look at the performance gaps between AMD and intel offerings of the same value you will often find that the CPU performance gap is so small you won't even notice it and by going with AMD you score in other area of your overall system performance (for example better motherboards).

Don't forget that the eu slapped intel with a huge anti trust fine for paying shops not to stock amd processors.

does the psu have extra molex connectors for gpu?

You and roux should get a room mate. when amd can answer why their performance is worse and why they are now more expensive than intel than we can speak again.

Do you think people give a shyte who did what? they want a nice computer for good money.

The only thing i can say is buy 1 stick of 2gb so if you want in the future you can just another one.

No - people are far to focussed on now and the most instant gratification they can get now. Just look at the amount of ADSL subscribers in SA and you get the picture.

The only reason you can pick up intels for cheaper is because they want to undercut AMD, and with their size it is easy. The only reason they run faster is because they spend all their time and efforts to get them as fast as possible. They spend nothing on innovation like PowerNow (speedstep), Cool'n'Quiet (speedstep), x64 (EMT64), integrated memory controller (i7) - they just copy AMD.

If a few FPS is all it takes for you to blindly buy a CPU without thinking of the greater scheme of things and the track record of that company then intel is just right for you.
