Hi guys,

I just want some advice here. I got an offer to swap my PC + 2.2K for a Lenovo Thinkpad T61. I sleep in the same room as the PC so I need it to be as quite as possible. Is this a good offer? Or should I rather upgrade my PC?

Specs of the T61:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo (2.2GHz, 800MHz FSB, 4MB Cache)
Display: 1440 x 900
Hard Drive: 160GB 5400RPM
Memory: 2GB (2 x 1GB)

Thanks :)

EDIT: Title should be Thinkpad T61. :o

Thinkpad's are very quiet, not the most reliable in my opinion - but quiet is a def + on thinkpad's

I have had the T41,T43,T60 and T61 (i am going to upgrade to an i7 proc very very very soon)
On General they are fairly quiet, I was away for a couple of weeks and left it running in the hotel room next to my bed and even though I am a light sleeper it did not wake me up (The T60 and T43 did tho)
As Johndoe mentions, they are not really reliable, well hardware wise they seem fine, but I have had a few problem running XP (Corporate Buikd) but I am now running Vista and its OK

Its been around for a couple of years now, but for me it works, I still use it, BUT even though it is my primary Laptop i still prefer my desktop ...
BTW I don't sleep next to any of them, my wife gets that honour ;-)

OK great, thanks for the replies guys. :)

Kinda depends on the PC you have, dun'it?

Sorry I completely forgot about that :o. Specs are:

Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2l
Intel E2180 2.0Ghz
Kingston 1 GB DDR2-800 RAM
Gigabyte 7800GT
Seagate 160 GB IDE HDD

I've had my T61 for almost 3 years now and she's very quiet and definately reliable, she hasn't shown any aging or wear and tear despite the keyboard going from matt to glossy from all the typing :)

It's a good offer in terms of overall value, the only downside is the graphics card is quite decent still, so unless you came lots, you may be dissapointed.
