PC to TV

Hope some one can help.

I would like to help a friend hook a pc to a tv iow. svga to AVI.
Is this possible and if so what cable would I need to buy??

It would all depend on whether his PC has got TV- out in the first place.

So it can't be done if he only has svga??

If yes, then it would be either:
- HDMI - best to connect to an LCD/Plasma
- S-Video
- Component (Red/Blue/Green connections)
- Composite (yellow connection)

There might be an adapter to convert to a normal TV input. But I doubt it. The graphic card will have to support TV-out methinks.

Just AVI I believe. (The red, yellow and white)
The TV is a couple of years old and come to think of it so is the PC.

Actually, rather don't. Just got the updated price from our supplier and the weak rand has pushed the price up to stupid levels!

He don't by any change own a xbox? Easy way to connect via network cable or wifi...

My Durban branch has recently sourced a very decent VGA-TV/TV-VGA converter. Its quite pricey but a lot better than the generic cheap chinese ones you get for R150-R400 and will do 1920x1080 output as well. I could be wrong about the resolution though as I haven't played with one yet.

That's VGA to Component (Red, Blue, Green) so won't work, unless they have a component connection on that old TV
