Iam a linux user so iam not realy up to date with the gaming times , i have a amd 4400+ x2 and 4gigs of ddr2 ram , i want to buy a vga card and windows 7 so i can play some of the new fancy titles , i have no intrest on playing games with the highest settings , i just dont want there to lag.
if i buy a gts450 vga card will i be able to achieve my goal ? or will i need to upgrade my cpu and mobo aswell ? :)

What mobo do you have?

a GTS450 is fine for what you want, but I would say your cpu needs upgrading.

Biostar A780G M2 AM2+ , was hoping to avoid that for awhile :P, i think iam just going to save up and do a complete upgrade , i have been rather intrested in the phenom 2 x6 series of cpu's .

Yeah, it all depends on what games you want to play. You should be able to install a AM3 cpu onto that board, but I don't think it will support the hexa core cpus.

BTW, I think you would have gotten more responses if you posted this in the hardware section. ;)
