PC Upgrade

Yes, another one of these. I wasn't sure if I should post in an existing 'upgrade thread', but hey. Anyway, with my birthday coming up, I'm going to be buying myself an upgrade. I'll mainly be upgrading my CPU, Graphics card and maybe some new RAM.

My budget is about R4500 if I want no money left over.(might be able to squeeze some bucks from the folks if needs be)
So I've done some looking around, and my choice(s) so far is this :

Amd 64 X2 6000+ @ R1600-1700
Geforce 8800GT @ R2500-2600
If I have money left over, I'll get (standard)2GB DDR2-800 RAM. (not overclocking)

For the 8800GT, I'm looking at the Chaintech 8800GT, the XFX Alpha Dog 8800GT and the Sparkle 8800GT. The CPU and RAM I can pick up at Matrix Warehouses nearby, for R1700 and R300-400 for the RAM.

How does it look/sound? Suggestions, ideas?

I'd just like a second opinion.

Looks good, i have the XFX as well and no issues apart from the fact that it runs damn hot. Nowadaya though i think you will prob get the one with the new cooler so that should be less of an issue.

Seriously, all cards are virtually the same, people need to start remembering this fact, brand schmand, just get the cheapest one and get some 3rd party cooling.

Some manufacterers (usually the more expensive ones) have a better warranty

there is no XfX lifetime warrenty here in SA we get 3 years and thats all.

Sparkel/Chaintech/XfX/Gigabyte/Asus/PoV they all the same, just a different colored PCB and fancy Graphic on your cooler

As for System it's O.K, but thats probably cause I like Intel

The unlocked 6400+ (3.2Ghz) actually isn't much more than the 6000+, at PCInternational at least, only R100 ex. Vat.

But most other places seem to have it quite a bit more expensive.

Out of Sparkle, Chaintech and XFX, definitely go for the cheapest. Prophecy have the Inno3D overclocked card for R2550 atm. It looks pretty nice, which is a big factor seeing as that is the only change between brands of stock 8800GT's.
