You could try re-enabling RAID, disconnecting both drives, delete the array, reconnect the drives, and re-create the array in Windows using Matrix storage manager.. then, you should be back to your old config, but it doesnt answer the q. as to why it failed in the 1st place..

Nivek, thanks would be great to fix it in the meantime to avoid taking it in on Monday.

Just to confirm, the steps suggested above are to be followed in that exact order? You say 'in Windows', but can I do all this from the boot up storage manager prior to Windows loading? When you say delete the array, do you mean by selecting 'option2/Delete RAID volume'? Does that just delete the RAID config without deleting data? Then, when you say re-create the array, must I just select 'option1/Create RAID volume'? Now that I have used the one drive in IDE mode so they are no longer identical, will it then ask me which drive to use as the mirror or is that dependent on the connections to mainboard? Then I guess it will re-build the mirror if I understand correctly. And finally, is this safe for a RAID novice? :D No data loss? :D This is uncharted territory for me.

Appreciate the help so far, you've been right on the money :)
