Got bought a new 1TB hdd today when my mom was in Ballito. She bought it at PC Zone Ballito ..... gets back and it's completely dead. Not only that, but on closer inspection, the hdd is used. So they took a used, dead hdd and resold it as brand new, just like that.

Now I can't get back there and all I can do is blast some fscker on the phone tomorrow. Anyone wanting to go there and buy stuff, you have been warned.

Thanks for the warning.

Another user here on myBB also got an used HDD from Incredible Connection a few weeks ago, but his was still working.
Unfortunately he didn't manage to make a case against IC.

I stay in Cowies Hill .... no car and Mom was visiting, like I said ;)

How much does a used dead 1TB HDD sell for at PC Zone?

Nope on the other store ... has to be returned to Ballito one and if not done within 7 days, the swap out falls away and they send it away for 'repairs' with no eta. Lovely way to do business huh.

put it on "consumer watch" at east coast radio. that will get their attention.

Yeah, been numerous threads on their nasty after sales service, or lack thereof.

do yall know about the New Consumer Protection act, consumers are heavily protected and sellers must replace or refund defective goods ( your choice) and courier costs for return is for the account of seller...

people just need to apply it

Speaks for it's self

Get from NGR Computers next time  or Matrix Computers, or any of the other thousand online Pc Shops :D

Matrix? Haha, sent them and Computer World an email a while ago listing some parts, to check prices and if they had stock. Was about R6000 worth of stuff.
Neither of them replied.
Screw them, not worth wasting your time with a business that can't even respond to an email.

Good online stores FTW :)

Had my own little horror story with PC Zone in Pinetown a few years ago. It was sorted out eventually, but took them way too long and too many trips there and back. Still buy the odd thing from them though, when it's convenient.

Get your drive from Mitabyte if you want good service from a walk-in shop.

I had plenty problems with Matrix so I wouldn't buy certain things from them.

Well I bought a 2TB external hard drive from their Pinetown store today seemed sealed, so far running fine , don’t like the fact that the swap out fall away so soon though.
