PC Zone

You shouldn't have to do that, IMHO.

Why should you give them your money, including their profits, and expect zero or rather a "I'm not interested" response when something goes wrong?

I'd far rather pay a little more from a reputable company who actually places some value on customer service and after sales support.

You, of course, may feel differently.

In an ideal world, maybe. But if I'm gonna save R2000 on a build or R200 on a hard drive, it's hard to argue with those savings.

Fine, but you have to take your chances, which was the underlining message.

The fact that they want R1699 for Windows 8 Pro is off putting. Especially since Makro is selling it for R549.00.

I do agree with all you guys posts about Pc Zone having crap customer service, especially the pinetown branch as of late. those guys have no care in the world, musgrave branch is quite pleasant, though i would have to disagree with the pricing of windows 8. yes makro has the windows 8 upgrade for R549.00 but that serves as an upgrade from an existing platform from xp and above, so if you have a laptop with xp or above you can upgrade to windows 8 for R549.00, the windows 8 pro which retails for 1699.00 is for fresh installations e.g if you purchase a machine with no operating system (blank hard drive) then you need windows 8 PRO not upgrade.

alot of my mates got caught with this mis-interpretation and the sad part is that the salesmen at makro assured my mates that it is the full package, when it was not.

This was answered later in forum, this is for the upgrade version. Our Price quoted is for the full version for fresh clean installation

OK , the thing is that I have found is that their manager SUX. I wanted a system from them without the crap MB they supply on their special price list, they had stock of everything but a cpu, I suggest he just take one out of the pre-built systems , as I did not mind if it has already been opened. He objected to this happening and I walked out with them loosing a 11k sale on that day.

I have had similar experiences in all of their other branches so I suppose its not a branch thing , more of a ZONE thing.

I apologize you feel "the manager sux " . If you have issues please let us know so we can try fix the problem you have. Not sure when you wanted to purchase a pc from us but for the last 3 years our base systems have come with MSI and Foxconn motherboards. Two of the largest brands in the world. We have had a complete change of management in all our stores over the past year and are trying hard to resolve any customer issues. We try train our staff as best as possible and have no idea why they would not remove a cpu from a pre-built machine. We have done that many times. I apologize and can only hope with the many changes we have made we sort out this poor customer service.

All our items have a 1 year warranty. The only time there would be an issue with returns is if you do not have a receipt. Not sure how you can say "it's almost unheard of a CPu failing" I am sure if you speak to many intel certified partner that use the AWR ( advanced warranty replacement) program from Intel would say otherwise. We sell loads of Intel cpu a year all purchased through correct local channel. We have returned more than a few cpus to intel. Even dead right out of the box. This is not a rare occasion.
Speaking to techs at the Intel distributors in Durban they all have had similar problems. Except they ask us to send the cpu direct to intel rather than back to them.

Hellopeter is a money making website. Hold very little water. Anyone who understands how there website truly works would agree. Anyone can log on create a username and say what ever they want about any company they want. That company has to pay to answer. Even if the complaint is factually wrong. All they do is send customer an email if he replies they leave complaint, no matter what. For example guy posts you cant get socket 1155 motherboards anywhere in the world, yet they are available local.

We buy all our ram from local suppliers it is what they bring in, we do not import anything. Hynix (we have not sold in years);trancsend;corsair, apacer , geil , kingmax, kingston. All are well known brands. I am surprised that someone with a rating of Grandmaster makes suck false and in accurate statements. It is slanderous. We do not make ram or important and if we test ram and find a fault return to the local distributors for replacement.

I assume you are the owner of the PC Zone franchise, it sounds like the staff at your numerous outlets are getting out of hand and customers are naming and shaming your business, if i was you I would bring out the whip or start firing them before the reputation is destroyed.

Please let me know what email address you are emailing that you do not get responses on. This is not acceptable. I do check stores emails when i do store visits, to ensure they get answer. I apologize for this.

like any retailer we require the slip for any type of return. All computer hardware we sell is sourced from local distributors. We pretty much only buy branded components for our pc hardware. We might have the occasional webcam or mouse that might not be a major brand name , but all computer internal components are. We try our nest to keep the price as best as possible. The quality of the product is determined by the manufacturer and the brand, we have no influence on this.

When did you have this issue , must have been years ago. All motherboards we have sold for over 3 years have only been major brand boards (MSI and Foxconn on base systems). Our policy for testing pcs that are returned without a sticker on the case is to disconnect the hard drive and use a test hard drive with a fresh installation of windows loaded. This is as per request from microsoft (which we are an associated partner). We have microsft reps visit our shops all the time and we abide by the requests they ask of us. It costs us nothing to replace a motherboard under warranty. It goes back to local distributor for replacement. The technician would show you pc working on collection should you not take our word for our assessment. Please contact me should you require assistance with your fault.

please can you let me know what store you had this issue. We have never voided warranty for opening a pc and breaking the seal. The seal is there to prevent people changing the specs they saying they were supplied incorrectly. We just ask customer to check there specs before they break the seal. We only void warranty if the item is physically or burnt.

"pay more for better products " what make of memory did your customer buy from us?

"booked in for repairs and that it would take two weeks" our turn around time on all repairs is estimated at 3-7 working which is clearly stated on our job sheets.

I apologize that you were not helped in this way. Could you let me know what store you went to and when you went, so i can try find out why they never followed procedure.

Please let me know how we can improve. Constructive criticism is welcomed. i do try to train the staff and obviously rely on them to deal with people in the correct manner. I am currently based at the Pinetown branch and trying to lift our service. Please feel free to stop by and let me know or send me an email.

We only sell WD,Seagate hard drives. All suppliers have dropped there warranty period over the year over the years and soon all drives if not already are now only 1 year warranty ( entry level units).

Thank you for your feedback. However we do not purchase any items from Esquire. Have not for years. We build all our base systems in house. All components used are source local and are of major brands. Currently mother boars is MSI, memory is Apacer, hard drive is Seagate, case is Thermaltake, Cpu is Intel, dvd writer is Pioneer.

Adding my 2c:
They're ridiculously cheap (cheaper than Rectron/Esquire in some instances). I've bought 3 PCs and countless other things from them and had no issues.
But (and it's a big one):
You have know exactly what you want before you go there, be prepared to pay cash to get a better deal, and shout louder than everyone else in order to get service.

Thank you for positive feedback. We have stopped offering a cash special over 18 months ago. All prices advertised are available for cash or credit card purchases. We still get many complaints every month from people asking us to start doing the cash discount price again. When we have it people complain when we don't people complain. I assume you must have visited the store long ago? we have revamped all our stores and have enough staff in each store to help all customers in a timely manner.

Thank you for your business. Hope we keep assisting you correctly and continue to be your pc store of choice

You need to seriously learn how to use a forum. The fact that you only have a 1 year warranty on your products will make me look elsewhere. To me it doesn't matter if you are R50, R100, R200 cheaper, I like having peace of mind that I have a 3 year warranty on the product and if it comes to me having to use it I won't have a problem where the people I bought it from are not willing to help me.

In my honest opinion a 1 year warranty on a hard drive is unacceptable especially when you can pay a little extra for the same thing but with a 3 year warranty.

If Pczone had full warranties on their products and had much better customer service then the people on this thread would not have complained.
