Why dont you buy a new PC, just a basic Celeron 1.8MHz 512mb RAM & 80GB HDD, it will cost you around R1900 or less, try Matrix / Commuter Corporation / M.R.C Computers

He'll need new MB + RAM + CPU.
PC133 means it's still a P3 or older.

Should be able to get Core2duo, with DDR2 + MB for under R2k, maybe even under R1.5k.

I still can't believe that this thing cost R10k when it was bought about 5-6 years ago... I'd never spend that now on a PC.

I don't want to hi jack the thread but does anyone have ddr333 ram lying around. I can't find any where i won't pay an arm and a leg for it. All I have if anyone needs is a 1.7 celeron

Recently bought a 1gb DDR333 chip from pcint.co.za for my laptop. Damm they are difficult to find
edit: Almost as difficult as finding PC133 ECC ram

Hmm. believe I do where I could use DDR400.
Cyberdyne has it for R225 for 512MB stick.

I have one DIMM of 256Mbyte DDR333 RAM left....

It's actually a P4, but it must be one of the first ones. It's socket 478, so I would be able to get a new 478 board with DDR400 RAM. (that's option 2, after trying to find some more PC133 RAM)

Ha! My one PC is also one like this. P4 using PC133 RAM. Just not sure if it is a socket 478 or 423... Dreadfully slow. This motherboard @ sybaritic looks inviting - a nice upgrade especially because I have some DDR400 not being used.
