My dad got a tv for free but the board got hit by lightning.
Its a samsung tv

it will be cheaper in the long run buying a new 40" telly, as this puppy consumes 180 watts power That thing is 10yrs old

You can try wrap it in tinfoil and then microwave it for 1-2 minutes to reflow the solder, it's not guaranteed to work though.

Replacing a board is a really hit-or-miss thing. Often times, they will make changes to the board whilst the board is still in production. The board is often used for multiple different TVs and as such it also usually needs to be programmed for that specific panel. I can get a quote from my supplier but I am not sure if it will be worthwhile considering how old the TV is. How much are you hoping to spend? This board will most likely need to be imported.

If you do want me to get you a quote I will need the following pictures (with all the covers off): a picture of the front, back, the barcode/sticker of the panel and any other barcodes/stickers you see.

Also, I assume you've tested the power supply or tried a different one?

Wow I have this TV set as well, not my main set but its a 2006 model and it still works to date without skipping a beat. I have the LA46A550.

in an oven yes to try and fix dry joints, not a microwave oven, that would be crazy
