I was hoping someone could give me some advice.

We have 2 old intel 1U rackmount servers (SR1530AH and SR1530HSH) which I would like to use as Citrix XenServer hypervisors. I ran into the issue that Xenserver does not support the "FAKERAID" both these boards feature, and I would need to install proper hardware based raid-controllers for Raid1 redundancy.

The problem lies in that both these machines do not have riser cards installed (I need a x16 to x16 riser) - and the only mention I can find of the proper intel parts are on international stores, and local sites like wantitall.co.za charging R1100+ for a $12 part. I have seen however that the part FSR16XXRISER for a newer Intel 1U server is currently available.

My question is - will the riser work? Are risers openly interchangeable? (I am presuming they are, esp pci-e to pci-e) Does anyone know of a company in SA that specializes in riser cards? Thanks!

Its just a bunch of wires, I cant think of any reason why you cant use different riser cables, as long as its PCIe x16
