I use PDF Creator on my work laptop. It's what I am meant to use, I understand.

I use to capture documents into PDF which have been scanned into a "business process management" type environment. Because the documents appears as single pages in there, and I ain't downloading each individually, I use this capture method for reference purposes at a later time.

The problem is that the bigger PDF (in pages) tend to hang indefinitely. Force close is the only alternative.

Our IT fella says it's a compression thing. So I disabled this. It seems to work, but this results in a 10MB file morphing into a 292MB file. Apart from restricted file space, I cannot send this by email (size restrictions).

So I ask, are there any "safe" alternatives I can use to print documents into PDF... or do I need to grovel and beg my company for Acrobat Pro?

Thanks in advance,

I really appreciate the input. I will be researching this so I can put in a motivation for this to my IT. This is the route I must follow :( or risk installing it on the quiet.

What I quite like is that I can create a PDF, then print another image and append it to that first PDF if necessary. Maybe they all do that, I dunno.

So the pdfs contain scanned pages? If this then its always tricky getting the file size workable. Have you tried printing it to a single Jpeg file with multipile pages? Acrobat Pro is great, i use it daily on creative cloud!
