PDP permit

Same place as your driver's licence.

You will need a medical and police clearance. The medical is special form the doc needs to complete. Police Clearance is online via Ideco. Driver's centre will process you application then give you a form with your reference and banking details etc. Pay the money in at the relevant bank. Wait a few days (normally 2) before your clearance prints back at the Driver's office. Once that is done they will get the PrDP authorised and order a card. At this stage you can take out a temporary if you need it.

You can pay at any bank but ABSA payments give us the least problems. And don't even think of an EFT. Even more hassle. Rather go in to the bank and deposit direct.

What's wrong with EFT? I paid using EFT just over a week ago, into the ABSA account.

I was planning to give it about 6 weeks before i go back to Watloo to check if my new card as arrived.
Do you think I will have problems?

In my experience EFT never gave me any issues. I usually do an EFT from my Standard Bank account to pay for my wife's PrDP

We've had problems with clients who have paid by eft. But the problem could be them not using the right reference number as well. If Ideco cannot verify the payment the clearance doesn't print.

Did they not request you to come back after a certain time period to check if the clearance has printed and then order your card? We need the client back so that he can sign off the order for the card before it is ordered. Must do things differently up there.

It's my first time applying for Pdp here, and the service is really appalling at Watloo, No one said anything actually, I just thought since the card takes about 6weeks, i will just go back after 6 weeks to check it.

I suggest you give Waltloo a buzz to see if your clearance has printed and then go in to complete the final stage of your application.

Do you need a PrDP?
 
No, it's for fare paying passengers and driving for reward ie a transport conpany or commercial trucks with gvm over 3500 as well iirc.
