Port Elizabeth - A Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University student has died from his injuries after a vicious attack during a house robbery over the weekend.

Asadullah Ajimudin, 19, a second-year computer science and applied mathematics student, was found unconscious and severely beaten, with his body hidden and left for dead in his flatlet in Ben Viljoen Street, Summerstrand, during the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Alwin Lebans confirmed that Ajimudin, who was originally from Kimberley, had died on Tuesday morning, after his family decided to switch off the life support machines when he failed to respond to treatment.

I hope these crims die a nasty painful death.

Some chick was asking if I'm very paranoid when she saw my putting up my CCTV cameras to supplement my other security systems, all I said is "prevention is better than cure"..

Really, really sad :(

I keep all my doors locked up, windows shut at all times, my windows have burglar bars (requested the land owner to put burglar bars on the bathroom window) We had an attempted break in a few months ago, but they didn't proceed with getting in, the electric fencing was in the way.

That is our reality...!

Message from NMMU

NMMU has learnt with great shock of the savage attack on one of our students, Asadullah Ajimudin 19, a second-year computer science and applied mathematics student by as yet unknown assailants in his flat in Summerstrand on Saturday.

We are totally horrified at the savagery and brutality of this crime, and the life threatening injuries Asadullah sustained. NMMU wishes to express our sympathies and solidarity with the family, and will hold him in our prayers. The ventilator which is keeping Asadullah alive, is expected to be switched off today.

We cannot begin to imagine the shock and trauma this must have induced on his family, and can only pray for his well being. NMMU furthermore calls on the police to make every effort to swiftly track down, arrest and hand over these savages to the courts, and for the law to put them away for good. Such people cannot be allowed to walk on our streets and put citizens at risk.
